How far is Coral Bay from Exmouth?

Coral Bay is approximately 120 kilometres (just over one hour’s drive) south of Exmouth. Coral Bay is also about 50 kilometres north of the Tropic of Capricorn.


What is the weather like in Coral Bay?

Coral Bay boasts a Mediterranean style climate of warm days and cool nights - blue skies and sunshine throughout most of the year.  Average temperatures vary between 25°C in winter and 39°C in summer. As with all weather it cannot be accurately predicted and there are some exceptions to these averages.

Is there fresh water at Ningaloo Reef Resort?

With the average annual rainfall in Coral Bay at only approximately 100mm (4 inches) water is a very valuable commodity. Previously supplying filtered artesian bore water, Ningaloo Reef Resort has recently been upgraded to connect with Coral Bay’s fresh scheme water. Guests will now enjoy the use of fresh water which is being supplied to all accommodation units and apartments.

What time of the year can I see a whaleshark?

Whale sharks are seen swimming through Ningaloo Reef between May and June every year. Beyond the whalesharks are many other marine creatures that call Ningaloo Reef their home including turtles, manta rays and hundreds of species of tropical fish.

What time of the year can I see turtles hatching?

The rare and special experience of turtles hatching in the sand and crawling to the beach to begin their life takes place in Coral Bay in January. You are welcome to view this phenomenon but be sure not to interrupt the process by touching or attempting to interact with the hatchlings.

The closest airport to Coral Bay is Learmonth (about 36 kilometres from Exmouth). Skywest Airlines flies to Learmonth throughout the week. For bookings contact Skywest on 1300 66 00 88 or visit www.skywest.com.au.


Is there a shuttle bus service to the airport?

Learmonth Airport is approximately 100 kilometres from Coral Bay - just over one hours’ drive. Shuttle buses are available between the airport and Ningaloo Reef Resort – contact the Resort on 1800 795 522 for a list of preferred suppliers. Charges apply, bookings essential.
